Masters of Love

Love-MasterEvery day in June, the most popular wedding month of the year, about 13,000 American couples will say “I do,” committing to a lifelong relationship that will be full of friendship, joy, and love that will carry them forward to their final days on this earth.

Except, of course, it doesn’t work out that way for most people. The majority of marriages fail, either ending in divorce and separation or devolving into bitterness and dysfunction. Of all the people who get married, only three in ten remain in healthy, happy marriages, as psychologist Ty Tashiro points out in his book The Science of Happily Ever After, which was published earlier this year.

Warning-SignsPsychologists have interesting news about boredom: It can be good for interpersonal relationships.

In an individual, boredom can lead the mind to wander, stimulating creativity. It can do much the same in a relationship, acting as a powerful signal to pay attention and step up your game. It may even help you rekindle your connection.

Until recently, research into boredom has focused almost exclusively on its negative effects, which include links to increased stress, smoking, drinking and drug use, as well as depression and weight gain. Boredom can appear in many types of relationships, including friendships. It may come and go. In a relationship, it may even be the beginning of the end.

A Real Relationship with God

prasiegodWhen you think of religion, what comes to your mind—a set of rules, regulations and obligations or a deep, intimate relationship with God?

I like to consider myself someone who has a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I believe He died so we could have a living, vital relationship with God, not just a bunch of rules and regulations we’re forced to follow.

Yes, there are certain guidelines God wants us to follow, but His purpose in giving them is to protect us from the consequences of sin.
